Mature leadership
County Commissioner Burt Saunders has served Collier County and Florida with distinction since moving to Naples in 1982. Burt was first elected to the County Commission in 1986. Continuing his service to the County and to Florida, Burt was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1994, and the Florida Senate in 1998 where he served until 2008. Burt returned to private life, pursuing his local and state government law practice. In 2016, recognizing the need for principled and mature leadership at the County, Burt again sought election to the County Commission. His focus has been to provide the leadership necessary to meet the needs of a growing population and to protect the County’s precious natural environment for future generations.
Burt’s guiding principle has always been to make Collier County the best place in Florida to live, raise a family, and to prosper.
